Falling for 90’s Nostalgia

With a resurgence in 90’s style you will most definitely find me cringing and passing at the prospect of overalls and baby tees’, and low rise jeans being part of my wardrobe (even if I admittedly still own my original Tommy Hilfiger overalls…is it too early to call them vintage?).

I could be convinced that the right combination of jeans and a “going out top” is a throwback style I can get behind, but I tend to favor bringing back nostalgic elements that are infused with a modern twist. This way a style elicits a reaction of joyful reminiscing, rather than one of been there done that, (now I am just feeling old because that was a while ago).

For fall 2023 Derek Lam by MODO has once again caught my attention with a pair of glasses that is something I haven’t seen before. A frame that is a harmonious blend of 90’s rectangular shape and soft shape modern lines.

The silhouette is reminiscent of a 90’s narrower rectangle, delicately interbedded with the graceful curvature of a modern, oval lens shape.

The color of these frames might be classified as a neutral brown, but they are such an uncommon tone – a warm caramel that is so glossy I can only describe it as delicious. The satiny sheen of the translucent finish adds depth and breaks up the density of the thicker acetate frame.

As fashion continues to evolve, these eyeglasses stand as a testament to MODO’s vision with the Derek Lam collection and their ability to blend nostalgia with innovation, creating an #EyeStyle that transcends time and trends.

In a world where fashion is ever-evolving, this pair of frames set themselves apart as an ode to the past while embracing the future—a true differentiator in the realm of eyewear styles.
